We did make a change to the NOTAM briefing, earlier this year I think, to explicitly state at the top whether VFR or IFR NOTAMs are included, and also the period.

that's great.

it would be nice to allow to set it to Mixed Mode be default though....i'm having to remember to do this on 9/10 flights i do. (yes i know SD is an VFR tool Smile )

also - small bug/annoying feature noticed:
If you switch to IFR it uses the airways chart
If you switch back to Mixed, it stays on airways. I think it would make more sense to go to VFR charts ?

I think this is an important feature - I have been caught out by not seeing an IFR NOTAM recently.

Although numerically the majority of SkyDemon customers are VFR only, the number of flights/flying hours is probably skewed by instructors/instructional flights where the instructor is more likely to be IRR rated and also needs to be more aware of IFR NOTAMS.

I default global setting would suffice as a minimum. The current mode being displayed at the top of the NOTAM page would help enormously.

I think two things are needed.
Option to set default flight mode
Reminder in NOTAMS and PLOG what mode was used

I have some other significant (safety of life) issues I’m going to raise as separate threads. But this issue is in the same class I’d say.

This would be an essential feature. It’s verymannoying that with IFR features enabled. I don’t see IFR NOTAMs unless I remember to change the route to mixed mode (which I often forget).

Couldn’t agree with this more. I would prefer to use mixed as my default route type.

I doubt a 'default' philosophy covers the most mission profiles.

How about a mandatory pop-up instead, asking will you stay your last selection?

The problem with mandatory pop-ups is that they invariably annoy most people and then there is then a general clamour to remove them.

I think a default option does cover most options. Most of my SkyDemon-using acquaintances are pure VFR flyers, the rest being mostly VFR with the occasional non-airways IFR.
